This book is gorgeous: the illustrator has captured the essence of a Dutch fairy-tale, lullaby – & the author offers the complete written verses of a classic. The book IS a contemporary classic, one to be treasured, read by adults, read & shown to children, it’s a delight! It may bring tears of joy: a sweet touching tale.

I had a book of Eugene Fields Poems called The Sugarplum Tree. What wonderful memories of my mother reading them to me at bedtime. I cannot understand why this book cannot be reissued?
Such magical poems this man wrote, please reprint. Children need to hear poetry today as much as we did in the 40’s. Maybe more.
